I tried to do something across browsers like this :
const FOO = ‘bar’;
(function(){
alert( ‘before >> ‘ + FOO ); //expected -> bar
FOO = ‘Opera 9.5 sucks’;
alert( ‘after >> ‘ +FOO ); //expected -> bar, but Opera 9.5 will fail me.
})();
It seems that declaring a constant in IE is a lot easier than other browsers for me.

I implemented a version of your DHTML Accordian Menu 2.0 and noted that using form elements works in FireFox, and in IE when the menu’s elements are by default open, but not in IE after manipulating the menu. See supplemental link for example. Try this is Firefox: Works great. Try this in IE: looks OK at first, then breaks. Please get back to me on this, I’d love to use it but it’s just not IE compliant.
