Fix Drop down <select /> with fixed width cutt-off bugs on IE

Compatible with IE7, IE6, IE5.5

Is it possible to have a dropdown with a fixed width that allows users to see longer values when clicked or moused over for Internet Explorer 6- without breaking the markup??
